About Nu Omega

Nu Omega Chapter History
The Knowledgable Nu Omega Alumni Chapter of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Incorporated was founded by dedicated graduates of North Carolina A&T State University, home of Iota’s historic sixth chapter, the Zeta Chapter. Grounded in Aggie pride and the core principles of Iota Phi Theta, the brothers who established Nu Omega sought to extend the fraternity’s impact beyond campus and into the surrounding communities. Their vision was clear from the start: build a chapter rooted in scholarship, leadership, and meaningful service.
Nu Omega proudly refers to itself as the Gate City Iotas, a name that reflects both geography and responsibility. Greensboro has long been known as the Gate City, a crossroads where major highways connect northern, southern, and eastern North Carolina. While Nu Omega’s membership spans Greensboro, High Point, McLeansville, and neighboring communities, the chapter serves as a central gateway for Iota brothers traveling throughout the East Coast. In many ways, journeys within the Iota brotherhood pass through Nu Omega—making the chapter a connector, a bridge, and a point of continuity across regions.
From its inception, Nu Omega has focused on cultivating a strong brotherhood while uplifting the communities it serves. Through service initiatives, mentorship, leadership development, and partnerships across the Triad, the chapter has become a cornerstone of Iota Phi Theta’s presence in North Carolina. Guided by its founders’ vision and strengthened by its role as the Gate City Iotas, Nu Omega continues to honor the fraternity’s legacy while pushing forward with purpose, unity, and impact.
